Linda Figen, M.D.
Psychiatrist
To my patients,
The time has come that I am reaching retirement. I have known some of you for a long time, and others not so long, but I will be sad to leave you. I estimate a retirement date of the first of February 2012.
People are asking me for referrals. Unfortunately, I am the only psychiatrist with a practice like my own, which I have had for 25 years. In the beginning there were other doctors, but they retired, left town, etc. so there is no one psychiatrist I can send you to who is just like me.
Many of you are seeing me basically for medication. This can be handled several ways:
- If you are a veteran, contact the VA and find out your mental health benefits
- If you are a student, the Student Health Center
- Meadows Hospital outpatient Clinic
- Bloomington Hospital Behavioral Health Clinic
- Your family doctor – if you don’t have one get one!
- Finding a psychologist or a licensed social worker as a therapist, who will then refer you to whichever physician they use for medication. This may be the best idea of all.
- For those of you who can afford to pay more than I charged, Dr. Polly Lybrook and Dr. Michael Kane are in the red pages of the phone book.
I urge you to make arrangements to see another therapist as soon as possible, as there might be a waiting list. I will not be handling requests for medication after February 1st, 2012.
Many of you have a balance due on your account. Please let me go into my retirement with all accounts paid up. I have loved working with you all and will miss you, but I will also enjoy my privacy.
Very sincerely yours,
Linda Figen MD
